This volume presents a selection of papers given at the international conference "The Legacy of the Holocaust: Children and the Holocaust”, which was held on May 24-27, 2001, at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow and on the site of the former Auschwitz Concentration Camp. The purpose of the Conference was to examine the effects of the Holocaust on the victimswho were children at the time and on the children of survivors. How has the trauma been transmitted across the generations? Do children of survivors view the event differently from their elders? What did children in the camps experience? Scholars and participants from around the world gathered in Cracow to provide their recollections and findings.
