Pięć artykułów z filozofii współczesnej zawiera analizę i krytykę rozmaitych wątków filozofii moralnej i politycznej Alasdaira Mac Intyre’a. Problemy te podejmują Steven Peña, Baleb Bernacchio, Grzegorz Hołub, Adam Chmielewski i Eleni Leontsini. Historyczno-filozoficzne studium Artura Pacewicza dotyczy idei Sokratejskiej ascezy w Uczcie Platona, zaś analizę wiarygodności źródeł do interpretacji doktryn sofistycznych omawia Stefania Gombini.

Krzysztof Brzechczyn analizuje napięcie między wątkami liberalnymi i komunitarnymi w tradycji i ideologii ruchu Solidarności w Polsce. Relacje między pluralizmem wartości a liberalizmem w kontekście filozofii Isaiaha Berlina rozważa Beata Polanowska-Sygulska.  Dario Mazzola analizuje kwestię prawa do swobodnego przemieszczania z punktu widzenia teorii prawa naturalnego. Obed Frausto Gatica ujmuje opozycję między ideami federalizmu i antyfederalizmu jako dwoma sposobami rozumienia polityki, zaś Povilas Aleksandravicius rozważa alternatywne sposoby rozumienia idei europejskości i tożsamości Unii Europejskiej.

The present issue of the philosophical quarterly Studia Philosophica Wratislaviensia” marks a major breakthrough in its thirteen-year history. This is the first regular edition of the quarterly containing exclusively the articles written in the English language. Starting from this issue, Studia Philosophica Wratislaviensia" will publish texts both in Polish and English languages.

The current issue contains thirteen studies written by authors hailing from Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, and the United States. Five articles address various problems and ideas emerging in the context of Alasdair Mac Intyre s moral and political philosophy; those problems are taken up by Steven Peña, Baleb Bernacchio, Grzegorz Hołub, Adam Chmielewski and Eleni Leontsini. Artur Pacewicz’s study of concerns the idea of Socratic asceticism in the Plato s Symposium, while the credibility of sources for the interpretation of Sophistic doctrines is discussed by Stefania Gombini.

Krzysztof Brzechczyn analyzes a tension between liberal and communal approaches in the tradition and ideology of the Solidarity movement in Poland. The relationship between the value-pluralism and liberalism in the context of Isaiah Berlin s philosophy is the subject of the article by Beata Polanowska-Sygulska. Dario Mazzola examines the question of the right to free movement from the point of view of the natural law theory. Obed Frausto Gatica discusses the opposition between federalism and anti-federalism in America as two divergent ways of understanding politics, while Povilas Aleksandravicius considers alternative ways of understanding the idea of Europeanism and the identity of the European Union.
