Throughout the centuries the Psalter has been a great source of inspiration and spiritual strength for many, both Jews and Christians. The psalms with their poetic beauty and theological depth attract and captivate readers.
This book presents an examination of the imagery and theology of Psalm 63 one of the most profound poems in the Hebrew Bible. The longing for the presence of God is a dominant theme of this psalm.
This study undertakes an analysis of the difficult and complex metaphors and images contained in the poetical language of Psalm 63. Part One addresses issues about the nature of poetry, its definition, elements, and the role which imagery played in the ancient Near East, biblical and modern poetry. It also includes an analysis of the nature of metaphor. Part Two constitutes the central part of this study as it focuses on the examination of the figurative language and theology of Psalm 63. Part Three addresses the role and significance of the imagery and theology of Psalm 63 in the context of the Psalter and other books of the Hebrew Bible. The main aim of this book is to provide a new and original contribution to the theology of Psalm 63 and to the development and understanding of imagery in Hebrew poetry.

Przez stulecia Psałterz był wspaniałym źródłem inspiracji i duchowej siły dla wielu, tak dla chrześcijan, jak i żydów. Poetyckie piękno i teologiczna głębia psalmów pociągają i angażują czytelników. Książka przedstawia badania nad wyobraźnią i teologią Psalmu 63 jednego z najgłębszych poematów Biblii Hebrajskiej. Dominującym tematem tego psalmu jest tęsknota za obecnością Boga.

Część druga to główny element tego studium, jako że skupia się na badaniu obrazowości języka i teologii Psalmu 63. Część trzecia poświęcona jest roli i znaczeniu wyobraźni oraz teologii Psalmu 63 w kontekście Psałterza oraz innych ksiąg Biblii Hebrajskiej. Głównym celem książki jest innowacyjne i oryginalne spojrzenie na teologię Psalmu 63 i głębsze zrozumienie wyobraźni w poezji żydowskiej.
